LG claims Optimus Android Tablet will be better than iPad

When it rains it pours. Suddenly everyone is tripping over themselves to announce their tablet products. A few days back LG created some major buzz by claiming that their upcoming Android tablet will be better than the iPad. This was declared by their VP of marketing Chang Ma to the wall street journal. Many in the press declared Chang Ma to be a marketing genius. Of course there’s always the possibility that he truly believes it and he’s simply stating his belief.

The Motion Computing LE1700 makes the iPad look like a toy

As I mentioned previously, while shopping for a Tablet PC that is actually useful (unlike the iPad) I came upon the LE1700 from Motion Computing and was amazed at how much better it is compared to everything else out there. It’s really in a class by itself. While the iPad and all the other upcoming Android/Windows tablets are aimed at mainstream consumers, the LE1700 is designed for working mobile professionals out in the field.

My take on the Apple iPad

Sometimes I feel like the lone voice of reason in a world gone mad, or maybe it’s the other way around. As the world goes ga-ga for the Apple iPad, I find it to be unimpressive to say the least. It may surprise some of my readers but I have nothing personal against Apple or their products, and I always keep an open mind when it comes to technology or gadgets. In fact I actually wanted to like the iPad. Hey who wouldn’t like a lighter and thinner device that can replace my big laptop or those “useless” netbooks as Steve Jobs calls them. On launch day I actually had an iPad to play with for a few days in my home. I was very excited as I held it for the first time but I was immediately surprised by the weight of it. Don’t get me wrong it feels very good in the hands and it is very well built . I’m also not saying that it’s heavy or that anyone would have problems lifting it. I’m just saying that it is not something you would comfortably hold in your hand for long periods of time like if you were using it as an ebook reader.  Unfortunately since the iPad is not very usable when it’s laying flat you would have to either get an angled stand or always sit in a sort of sit-up fetal position if you want to use the iPad without holding it.
