HTC HD2: Finally found the perfect next phone for me
by pcchan on Oct.29, 2010, under Product spotlight
Although I’ve been more than happy with my Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, it has been almost 2 years so it’s definitely time to upgrade. After extensive market research and seeing how limited the upcoming Windows Phone 7 is going to be (see my WP7 write-up from 2 posts ago here), I decided the best phone OS for me is still Windows Mobile 6.5 which allows me to easily sync with my desktop outlook, run all the apps that I’ve collected over the years, copy-and-paste, and customize it anyway I like. At the same time I would like to have some of the new capabilities of Android such as Flash 10.1, multi-touch, and the apps store, all running on the latest phone hardware. I didn’t think there was such a device until I found the HTC HD2.

Windows Phone 7 is a big disappointment
by pcchan on Oct.17, 2010, under Products to avoid, Tech company misbehaving
The more I read about Windows Phone 7 the worse it looks. Instead of building on their strengths and just fixing what was broken they are abandoning all the good features from the previous Windows Mobile to just offer a subset of what Apple has. It’s as if they just decided to take the “if you can’t beat them join them” approach. Sadly in a market dominated by Apple, Androids, and Blackberrys there’s simply no room for an “Apple imitator”.
